Ignorant Gentile blogger’s thoughts on Gaza
I was in a hotel in California when the news came on tv that the day had come that Israel was giving up Gaza to the terrorists Palestinians. It was one of the saddest mornings I’ve known to watch the Israeli Army tear fellow Israelis away from their homes and property. I don’t want to re-live that moment – it makes me sick just to think about vineyards and homes replaced by thugs and destruction. Sort of the equivalent to a city so fed up and tired of fighting with gangs they agree to hand over a neatly mowed middle-class suburb to them to get them off their back. Only handouts to thugs never work.
I don’t know what the Israeli government was thinking giving it up — or why they give in to “world” pressure at all. I don’t know what liberals are thinking going around banging away on their world peace drum like it’s actually possible to placate terrorists and murderers with compromise. Would Hannibal Lecter have settled for just one toe or even an arm?
And I don’t know what I am thinking allowing myself to be bothered by any of it. Nothing over there surprises me any more, and unfortunately I don’t expect anything to get any better for Israel. But I do worry for them.
I heard an Israeli (Jew) say he wants nothing to do with religion because religion is responsible for all this. While it can certainly be argued that the Koran specifically instructs Muslim followers to wipe Jews off the face of the earth, it can also be argued that lack of faith (not religion) has led to bad decisions by the Jews. More importantly, though, I see his sentiment as just one more excuse to reject God. “If I reject God, peace will come upon me” may seem like a lovely thought to him, but it’s completely untrue. When will they understand that they will always have enemies because of who they are and the sooner they embrace God’s blessing and protection, the sooner they will have peace that transcends life without war?
I realize I am just an ignorant Gentile “clinging to my guns and religion,” but I do pray that the Jewish people will search for the truth outside of CNN, real truth as their forefathers knew. This time it’s not just one political party come to power in Germany — this time the whole world is turning against them. I pray that they will uncover truth from their prophets, from their God who loves them, and that they will provoked enough to find out why we Christians are nutty enough to follow a guy they do not believe is the Messiah and why we would be willing to put our lives on the line to support them. A good place to start is here and here.

One good thing I can say about little Israel: she sure does know how to kick the anthill in a really big way. I just wish she’d pull the band aid off all at once instead of only a little at a time. And stop giving away her own land that she’s just going to have to bomb the heck out of afterward.
