Oklahoma, Get Your Guns
Looks like we ain’t been healed of our clingin’ to guns and relijun yet.
Before she went under the knife, Miss Wisabus left me a message to let me know that as of last night there were no semi-automatic guns to be had anywhere, and to expect the price of guns to double this weekend. Since she’s still a little groggy, I’ll refer you to the Dallas Morning News article that came out yesterday:
“Liberals like to ban guns. That’s what it comes down to,” said Sullivan, 25, a Texas Christian University student.
Sullivan was among hundreds scrambling to buy a weapon Thursday at the gun store Cheaper Than Dirt! – which sold $101,000 in merchandise the day after the election, shattering its single-day sales record, said store owner DeWayne Irwin.
It’s not unexpected — gun sales went up after Clinton was elected as well. It’s like when Gary England comes on and says we’re gonna have a whopper tonight — just like clockwork, at 5:00pm all grocery stores are completely cleaned out of bottled water, batteries, canned food, and ice cream. (Ok, no ice cream, but I thought I’d throw that in to throw off the non-Okies.) Not to mention the ridiculously long check out lines and rushes on the gas stations. I think we should start calling them block parties actually. Kind of fun…everybody gettin’ scared together. :-) Lots of camaraderie in fear.
Also on tv last night: Stateline’s Shootin’ Iron November broadcast. Their timing is just uncanny. It was interesting to watch a gun-ownership piece by Oklahomans about Oklahomans (as opposed to watching Charlie Gibson try to report it). Chances are the episode will re-air: Stateline airs Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8:30pm on OETA, and for DTV viewers, it airs at other time slots on OETA OKLA.
If you’re in the market, like to collect, or just want to see what all the fuss is about, Tulsa is hosting the world’s largest gun show this weekend. I’m thinkin’ about checkin’ it out myself.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. I’d rather be on the side of the people with the guns than the people without them.
