Checked and Balanced Media?
For how many days now have we been hearing about the $150,000 shopping spree for the Palins, so that they could be outfitted and presentable to the United States? How many days have they been ridiculed for it? Sarah’s been compared to all the others in the race who buy their own clothes, and the media has been telling us that the amount is seriously excessive. On only one occasion have I heard the MSM say that, after the election, the clothes would be donated to charity, and that the Palins would not be keeping any of it–and that one mention was literally the last sentence on the story, and was said under the commentator’s breath almost as an afterthought. I’d show you the story, but it was on GMA, and I can’t find it on their site anymore.
But what about money that the Democrats have wasted? Have we heard any of that? Well, read on, ’cause you’re about to.
Thanks to Ed over at HotAir for posting some rather interesting information out of the DNC recently.
Now, we all know that, when it comes to a national convention, money gets spent hand over fist. The Republican National Convention (RNC) and the Democratic National Convention (DNC) are no exception. In fact, it’s more likely that more money gets spent on those two conventions than any others across America. Or, at least, that’s my impression.
The DNC cost a grand total of $53.86 million, with $53.67 million in operating expenses. $14.1 million of it went to construction costs at the Pepsi Center (where the first three days of the DNC took place) in Denver. Who knows how much of it went to the flags that were just thrown away after the convention was over, but I can guarantee it couldn’t possibly be anywhere near what was spent on the stage Barack accepted the nomination on.
“Barackopolis”–the stage built in Invesco Field at Mile High for the last night of the convention–was only used for, what? A couple hours at most?
Grand total for those couple hours: $5.3 million.
And it might cost more than that! We don’t know yet, because they still have $7.1 million on hand, and are still receiving invoices from contractors.
True, they did donate the laptops, leftover office supplies, t-shirts, and water bottles were all donated, as well as “other surplus items” that went to a food bank (so I’ll assume it was leftover food), but still… What do you want to bet that those donated items didn’t cost anywhere near the $5.3 million Barackopolis cost.
Even if they included the flags that were “inadvertently” thrown away (according to them), that probably still doesn’t come near the $5.3 million.
So, let’s talk about frivolousness in spending.
$150,000 in clothing that will go to charity vs $5.3 million for a stage to be used a couple hours one night for a freaking speech.
And have we heard anything about it on MSM yet? I haven’t. And I’ll bet, unless people make a big stink about it, we probably won’t, either. We’ll just continue to hear about the $150,000 shopping spree.
Yup, the MSM is sooooo fair and balanced, isn’t it?
This just absolutely floors me. McCain wasn’t too good to use the stage the rest used for the RNC. Yet Obamessiah was too good to even show his face at the DNC inside the Pepsi Center. Apparently, his ego is too large for that tiny, useless stage, so they had to build him one in a football field.
I don’t know about you, but I didn’t see any doves alighting on his shoulder declaring him to be God’s Son–nor did I hear the voice of God say that He is well pleased with Obama–did you?
Although I did see the likes of Oprah in tears at seeing her Messiah speak.
(Sorry, I think I just threw up a little in my mouth)
This is just un-freaking-believable. We get hammered over $150,000 in clothes. But we’re expected not to bat an eyelash at the DNC spending thirty five times that amount for a stupid speech.
Mainstream Media: Check yourselves. You ain’t balanced.

Ah, but you’re missing the good bit — why would they spend so much effort to club us about her wardrobe? Because there’s nothing sinister about her to grab a hold of. The silver lining, my friend. Obama worshippers aside, here’s to hoping that a few souls around the nation realize that while we are exposing the softer side of Ayers, Rezko and Wright, they are exposing the softer side of Sears.
You’d think the DNC would at least be bright enough to chalk the whole thing up to how desperate McCain is because he’s behind…
