Industry News of the Day

Many things afoot this week, movie-lovers:

“Conservatives claim their politics have consequences” — hardly news, but I might retitle it “Future Medal of Honor Recipients.”  Way to show courage under fire, you guys.  Sobering words, though:

McCain and Palin don’t spend much time in Hollywood — even to raise money — because they figure a Republican can’t win California. But the party ignores the entertainment capital at its own peril.

“They didn’t only write off California, they wrote off our culture,” Breitbart said.

Following up on the above, I could not find the new Big Hollywood Blog up at Breitbart.com yet, but visit anyway and check out their .tv section.  Let me know if you find the blog before I do!

The answer to the all-important “Why weren’t Palin and Fey ever on screen together?” SNL question.  (h/t Hot Air)

The Tinseltown tax break.  Hey, why not?  Everybody else (but responsible taxpayers) are getting a piece of the pie.  Not that my insignificant opinion matters, but aren’t production incentives something that the states can handle for themselves?  Did it come with a Democratic campaign donation guarantee or something?  Perhaps this wasn’t the bailout the Republicans signed on for…
