“Negative Campaigning”
Definitions with MSM:
Positive = goo-goo, warm fuzzies and butterflies
Negative = anything other than the above
Definitions with Nume:
Positive = something that tells the truth
Negative = something that portrays fiction as fact
I’m trying to take this media garbage about McCain’s negative campaigning with a grain of salt because of their devotion to the One. But for some reason my gerbil keeps spinning it around. I’ve come to the conclusion that aside from Obama supporters living in denial and the media controlling the definition of negative campaigning (it’s not negative when Clinton or B.O. does it but it is when a Republican points out something true), there are two reasons why I think it’s so important for McCain to play for the offense:
1) B.O. said it himself last night: “Campaigns are tough.” That’s what we expect from candidates for the highest office in the land. You’re not friends, you’re competitors. “It’s not personal, it’s business.” If someone who wants to be PotUS can’t get tough when he needs to during the campaign, how should we believe that he’s going to get tough when he needs to in the White House?
2) Maybe this sounds really hokey, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how courtship applies here. Our candidate wants to woo us and solicit our hand for the White House, right? Now, we his intended have been slapped around, accused of being racist, expected to cough up billions to pay for other people’s greed and bad choices, etc. A little worse than just being insulted by someone, but the illustration serves that shouldn’t we expect him to stand up for us? To defend our virtues and values of what we hold dear? Two weeks before the campaign is a little late to be throwing down the gauntlet for our honor, but get a can of Right Guard and get to work anyway. Perhaps jousting would be even better than cagefighting.
We’re the Party of the 2nd Amendment, the NRA, and McCain is a war hero. I’d say that he’s got plenty of room to get tough. He’s just running out of time to conquer the Community Organizer.
