Welcome to the Know-Nothing Wing Party
I’ve been toying with names for a new third party for actual conservatives, and now I’m torn between Know-Nothing Party and Fatal Cancer Party. Which do you prefer?
Click here for video and fast forward to 1:00 for the show.
You may remember my notes on the VP debate. David Brooks was the PBS commenter that I quoted from during the discussion at the end. What I refrained from mentioning at the time was the glow in his eye — maybe I don’t know him very well, but I did notice that he had that look in his eye “like he’d just seen his first Trans Am.” “Norman Rockwell moments” anyone?
Now, Allahpundit at Hot Air brings up another important point (and has the complete video) – how did Brooks go from there to here? The overlords have their whips out, boys, and it doesn’t look pretty.
Meanwhile…according to GMA, [we conservatives are] the know-nothing wing of the GOP. According to David Brooks, hockey mom Sarah Palin is a fatal cancer, which reflects on our tiny intellect. What was it he said? Oh, that’s right: “There has been a counter, more populist tradition which is not only to scorn liberal ideas, but to scorn ideas entirely.”
The idea that individuals should be able to determine their own course rather than a government determining it for them — that’s not an idea.
The idea that the bigger the government, the bigger the corruption, the less freedom we have — that’s not an idea.
The idea that lowering taxes improves the economy being better than raising taxes to line fat cat pockets and pay off out of control spending by irresponsible government — that’s not an idea.
The idea that the right to defend ourselves and keep our military well-trained and equipped makes America stronger — that’s not an idea.
The idea that free markets and competition make our economy stronger — that’s not an idea.
The idea that human life is sacred and should be protected — that’s not an idea.
The idea that responsible, struggling families should have to choke up more taxes to pay for someone else’s crappy choices – that’s not an idea.
The idea that Sarah Palin is more like the average American than Barack Obama will ever be — that’s not an idea.
The idea that snobbery, selfishness, greed, and hatred of tradition, accountability and those who disagree is the hallmark of liberal thinking — that’s not an idea.
I would like to propose that the main difference between us is that we value the contribution that right and wrong make to society and they need liberal professors to tell them how to think. Jealousy that we came through college still able to think for ourselves isn’t very attractive. The beautiful thing about America is if you hate it so much, you have the freedom to leave and be happy somewhere else, singing those choruses of “Two legs good, four legs bad.” Trying to make us like other countries that are already just the way you want is very unoriginal and like trying to reinvent the wheel.
And while we’re here, may I just say that the GOP leadership reeks for guiding us to this glorious place where we are today. They need to grow up and grow some. I hate being the person who says this because division only weakens us — either the left side of the Republican Party is going to have to go or we are. Since we’re too stoopid to live, maybe it should be us. But I’d much rather it were them. Baby, I’m feeling dangerous today. How about you? PITBULL POWER has gone to my head.
Your ideas are not welcome. We do not celebrate ideas here. This is the new Know-Nothing Party.
Applications for membership now being accepted.

So, where do I sign up?
I’m re-reading the HuffPo Brooks article now, and ran across something rather interesting. He is quoted as saying “The more I follow politicians, the more I think experience matters, the ability to have a template of things in your mind that you can refer to on the spot, because believe me, once in office there’s no time to think or make decisions.”
So the person we elect to be PotUS won’t have time to make decisions? Isn’t that, basically, a lame duck PotUS? They can’t think, either? Hmmm…
Given those two bases, then maybe Obama would be the better President. He can’t think past the end of his teleprompter, and he flip-flops so often that many people see him as indecisive.
