Is There Anything Worth Seeing at the Box Office This Week?

A co-worker of mine — a very hip mom — had been planning to go to the movies with her daughter last weekend, and the day they were supposed to go she came in and said, “Well, can’t go see anything with Julie today because it’s all R-rated.  That’s the second weekend in a row.”  I think it’s safe to say we’ve been in a box office dry spell lately.

Which brings me to Fireproof.  I’m scared to even discuss it here — “Christian” movies have not been the best caliber, and I wouldn’t want to stake my reputation on a film I haven’t seen yet.  But Steven Isaac has.  And after reading his review at Plugged In Online, I’m willing to fork out the cash to give it a whirl.  I’m already a little teary just reading the storyline…but then, if you knew me you’d know why.

If you’re like I am and just aching for an excuse to take a break and sit in a theatre with a bucket of popcorn this weekend, Fireproof might be just the ticket.  Whether you like it or not, be sure to come back here and tell us in the comments what you thought about the flick.

But no matter what the movie is like, one thing I can get behind is the everyday relevance and course of action behind the movie: Fireproof Your Marriage.  I hope you’ll take a few minutes today to pray for your spouse and let them know you love them and that they are worth fighting for – just as to Christ, you were worth fighting for at Calvary.  All things are possible with Him.

  3. [...] You can always count on Nume to let everyone know what’s worth seeing in the theater, in fact, Fireproof was one that was suggested a while back. Now Ed Morrissey of Hot Air says, “Those who want to see theaters featuring Christian values and uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness, and love should support Fireproof before it disappears from the big screen.” [...]
