An Obama Two-Step?
Methinks Clinton protested too much when he appeared on The (Obstructed) View yesterday. And after doing a bit of digging, he may have told us all what’s going to happen in the next few days.
But I seriously, seriously doubt it.
You see, what all started this was an e-mail that I received yesterday. My first reaction was “Awwwww, is widdew Obama a widdew sad that old-timer McCain stole his widdew thunder with Palin?” And then it was “This will never happen.” And then it was “Oh, if it does and he wins, there will probably be such a power struggle in DC that the nation will screech to a halt until such a time as Hillary pulls an LBJ and has him offed.”
Here’s the e-mail that I’m sure has been passed around to everyone and their grandmother by now:
Hi all
Let me share some info with you that [I] have gotten from excellent sources within the DNC:
On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing health problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur after the VP debate on 10/2.
[T]here have been talks all weekend about how to proceed with this info. [G]enerally, the feeling is that we should all go ahead and get it out there to as many blog sites and personal email lists as is possible. [I] have already seen a few short blurbs about this- the “health problem” cited in those articles was aneurysm. [P]robably many of you have heard the same rumblings.
[H]owever, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this [O]bama strategy will be a go. [T]herefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front of this [O]bama maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand manipulation that it is.
[S]o, let’s start mixing this one up and cut the obamites off at the pass - send this info out to as many people as you can - post about it on websites and blogs - etc. etc. [I]f you have any thoughts or questions about this, please be in touch.
[L]astly, [I] have put an excerpt from Rudy’s speech at the RNC below - it seems to address this very issue!!
[Y]ours in the fight,
[Name removed to protect the "innocent"]

[E]xcerpt from R. Giuliani’s speech at the 2008 RNC:
“Obama - Obama promised to take public financing for his campaign, until he broke his promise.
Obama - Obama was against wiretapping before he voted for it.
When speaking to a pro-Israeli group, Obama favored an undivided Jerusalem, like I favor and like John McCain favored. Well, he favored an undivided Jerusalem - don’t get too excited -for one day, until he changed his mind.
Well, I’ll tell you, if I were Joe Biden, I’d want to get that V.P. thing in writing.”

As of right now, I seriously–seriously–doubt the validity of the e-mail. For starters, it just smacks of something that a liberal would send out to attempt to dishearten the conservatives and embolden the liberals. I mean, it’s a call to arms, basically, for every conservative out there to rise up and attempt to kill this pairing. And if we did, what would come of it?
- If it’s true, then it’s not like we can stop it. I mean, seriously folks, do you honestly think we could? It’s his choice, not ours. And it’s not like we’re going to change his mind. Plus, if we start rattling our armor and slapping our swords against our shields, it’s just going to make a lot of noise and send the signal that we’re little terrified fieldmice afraid that Palin can’t hold her own against Hillary. Which, I believe, she can most certainly do. Hillary’s pair aren’t nearly the size of Palin’s, so when it comes to a [insert a certain type of contest here], Palin can far outdistance–as well as outlast–Hillary. Remember, she’s a hunter. And when you go hunting, you learn to hold it for a long, long, long time.
- If it’s not true, then it will most definitely prove that some liberal astroturfed the whole thing. And if we rattle our armor and slap our swords against our shields, well, we’ll look like little terrified fieldmice afraid that Palin can’t hold her own against Hillary. And the same argument continues.
And none of that mentions that I had to go in and correct spelling and grammar. If a conservative were to send this out, I would hope that they would take the time to ensure that it doesn’t make them look like an uneducated moron before they hit the “Send” button.
I did do some checking, and, while there are a lot of blogs discussing it, they are all tied back to the one original e-mail. Sure, the e-mail has been changed slightly while being passed from person to person, but still. The essence is still the same. Some blogs–like Wallowa County Republican’s–are just posting the e-mail, as if it were truth. Some blogs–like SeeJaneMom–are poking holes in the theory. Which, basically, is the same thing that I’m attempting to do here.
I’d never before been to SeeJaneMom’s site before, but I must say, I’m rather impressed. She really does her homework–she found an article with CBS from August 30 where Biden talks about his aneurisym, and how it nearly killed him twenty years ago. This does help lend credence to the original e-mail, but still… It was twenty years ago. That’ll take some spin to have it all of a sudden creep up on him now and “force” him to withdraw from the race.
Not that that would be a bad thing for liberals, as we’ve seen lately how paying taxes is patriotic, as well as a “duty“ any Christian–er, excuse me, Catholic–should be more than happy to do.
Sidebar to Biden: We’re to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s. It has nothing to do with being patriotic, and it’s something that Jesus told all of us to do. Plus, Ed’s correct whenever he starts poking holes in Biden’s Catholic statements: Catholics do not believe in abortion, but Biden does. Catholics believe we’re to support the poor on our own (which is our duty), and I, too, can’t find anything in the catechism that states that taxes are to go to the poor. In fact, whenever taxes are discussed, it’s always that taxes are going to line the pockets of the tax collectors, as well as to the emporer for whatever he sees fit. And if I’m not mistaken, Caesar wasn’t too hip on helping the poor. Otherwise, he’d have gotten rid of the tax collectors for keeping the people poor… right? Biden, dude, keep your trap shut about the truth, and keep telling people that everything will come up roses, that life will be a bowl of cherries, if Obama wins. Only after the Obamessiah wins do you tell us that you’re doubling our taxes to put us into the poor house, so that you can “save” us from our empoverished state…
That reminds me of something… If you’re going to raise taxes so high you put people into the Poor House–only to turn around and “save” them from said Poor House… Isn’t that basically the same thing as hurting yourself or someone you know, just so that you can “save the day” by saving them from whatever it is that you caused in the first place? Isn’t there a name for that? I want to say it’s called “Munchausen biproxy,” but when it comes to the government doing it, it probably should be called Manchurian biproxy… But that’s just me, thinking out loud again.
But back to what I was saying originally.
I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt that the e-mail is true. But there are possibilities that there might be a nugget of truth in there somewhere. For example, as SeeJaneMom states, NOW (the National Organization of Women) is supporting Obama–and there’s no woman on the Democratic ticket.
Personally, I don’t see that as such a huge thing. I mean, they’ve been around since 1966. And starting in 1984, they’ve supported every liberal presidential candidate since then. EVERY. ONE. They didn’t much care for Jimmy Carter, though, because of the ERA bill… But let’s not talk about that. Besides, they’re the group who supports abortion, are over-the-top (almost militant, IMO) in favor of gay rights, and other hugely liberal ideals. They support same-sex marriage. They hate “father’s rights”–which is basically an equality issue as well when you get down to it.
So for NOW to support Obama without a woman on the ticket? Not a surprise. Besides, I’m not entirely sure I would hold my head up high to know that NOW supports me, given how extreme they usually are.
And now back to Biden and his aneurysm. The one the Times reported about in 1988 was his second, so there is the possibility that he’s having issues with a third–that would explain his “taxes are patriotic” meme. But I seriously doubt it. I mean, if you look at it, there really is only one way to finance everything that Barack truly wants “for us”: raising our taxes.
I could get into the percentages of this, showing how it would literally be impossible to raise the taxes on the richest people in America in order to alleviate the poorest from paying, and, since that’s the case, he’d have to raise taxes on the Middle Class to pay for it all, but I won’t. I mean, it’s a fairly straight-forward argument. Besides, that’s not the point of this blog post.
Again, I seriously doubt the validity of the e-mail. I have scoured the Internet for three hours this morning, looking for any AP reference to about Hillary reconvening her team. I know that might throw you for a loop, but the person who sent it to me said that a trusted friend of theirs had written a paragraph at the top of it. That paragraph stated that this e-mail could be tied to the AP release yesterday that stated that Hillary was reconvening her team to develop talking points to support Obama. As I said, I can’t find any AP reference about Hillary reconvening her team to do this. But then, Bill did protest a bit too much about Hillary not wanting to be VP. Unless this is true, and because of her not wanting to be VP, she’ll–as I said earlier–pull an LBJ and take Obama’s place to rule the galaxy…
Oops. Sorry. As I was writing that, I had a flash of the Star Wars scene where Vader was telling Luke that they could eliminate the emporer and rule the galaxy together… I apologize.
True, while I do think it would be a smart thing for Biden to bow out, especially after his latest gaffes concerning that Obama’s for clean coal and Biden’s against it, Biden sticking his foot in his mouth concerning the AIG bail-out, and his attack on the idiotic e-mail ad, I seriously doubt Obama would choose Hillary as his runningmate–irregardless of the fact that Biden thinks she’s the better candidate.
One, it would look reactionary and feeble for Obama to pick her now. I mean, if he did, then it would show the world how afraid he is of McCain’s pick in Palin. Plus, it would show the world that he is spineless and will bow to the will of the loudest voice–which is something he absolutely cannot do and still retain any modicum of respect from US citizens. I mean, when a president changes tracks because someone has a louder voice, then what will he do whenever the people who think it wrong get a bullhorn? If he does this, then eventually he’ll become so mired in the clay of his inadequacies that the nation will most likely revolt in such a huge way that there will be blood at some point. He’ll go down as America’s worst president ever.
And to top it all off, if Obama were to get Biden out of the way and bring Hillary in, then he would show just how apathetic he is towards the choices he makes, how unsuitable and immature he is deep down inside, and how unprepared he is to be our president. Which will be the killing blow for his campaign.
Mr. Obama, sir, if you allow Biden to bow out–no matter how you and your campaign spins it–you cannot, under any circumstances, choose Hillary as your VP candidate. It will literally be the killing blow to you and your campaign. i would suggest, if Biden leaves, you choose someone from across the aisle–if you can find anyone who will support you from over here. At least then you’ll show that you are willing to work with conservatives.
But don’t take my word for it. Just ask your advisor Jim Johnson, former fleecer CEO of Fannie Mae.
