Happy Tea Party Day!
I’m excited! Are you excited? I wouldn’t be able to attend if it weren’t for being unemployed, so thank heaven for small blessings. I’d make a great soundbite for the evening news.
This morning I’m looking for inspiration for my sign and discovering freebies. A couple new items have come to light this morning that I wanted to pass on to you. If you cannot attend the OKC tea party in person on your lunch break, there are a couple other ways you can still join in:
1) Watch live coverage at Pajamas TV.
2) Pray — for our country, for our leaders, for the attenders, for the media. This morning GMA reported that the tea parties are nothing more than an April 15 tax protest. Nothing like a little misinformation to confuse the masses. I love how Michelle Malkin says it:
“For the Johnny-Come-Latelys in the MSM who will be dispatched by their editors to file obligatory stories about the hundreds of Tax Day Tea Party protests across the country today, here is a cheat sheet to get you up to speed.”
We are gathering on 4/15 but our income tax is not the issue. The trillions of “stimulus” money that our government is spending, which we get to pay for through our income taxes, is. The original Tea Party was all about thumbing our noses at King George III over taxation without representation — yet today our government has been spending our money and taxing us out the wazoo without paying any attention at all to what we have to say about it. That is why I will be there today.
3) Decorate your car. You’ve got tea bags — use them! Add your own special touches…a doilie here, some sugar packets there, a few glittering porkulus pointers…and you’ll be all set.
4) Have your own tea party on the curb somewhere after work. NW Expressway has some lovely grassy spots for a tea party picnic.
That’s enough — I’ve gotta go get ready. Since it’s going to be a lovely day, I think I might make some sweet iced tea to take with me for refreshment. My fellow bloggers will not be able to attend since they are all gainfully employed. I’ll be taking plenty of pictures to report back on, but there just won’t be any of us in them.
Hope may be naive, but I have no choice but to hope that what we do today makes a difference…somehow. May the right people attend, the right soundbytes be given, the right people be listening, and may God turn the hearts of our leaders toward the people.
PINKIES UP!
