Obama Speech Continued…

Did you catch the Democratic convention?  Did you watch Obama instill lofty dreams in the hearts of impressionable human robots?  Well, because of television time constraints, you didn’t see it all.  Here’s the rest of the speech that didn’t make it to TV.

In the nick of time…

Just in time for the coronation tonight.

This is the first thing my UPS man has delivered to the correct house in months. I feel like I can forgive all of that now. Bless your heart, UPS man.

Cheating China?

Hackers have uncovered the documents proving gymnastics gold medalist He Kexin is 14 years old - too young to compete.  Will this be enough for the IOC to take notice?

Receptionists of the OKC Metro Area, Unite!

Because there are just a few of us here *cough*allthreefemales*cough* who have served time as receptionists (or still are), I thought I would share a few items from my list of “Thirteen Things People Assume About Receptionists.” Do chime in if you can relate.

We can make the person you called for 5 minutes ago, who we told you had just stepped out to lunch and would be back in an hour, appear magically out of a snag in our No nonsense® knee highs. And then a second time out of our tightly wound bun when you call again 10 minutes later. (more…)

A Little Back to School Shopping

I meant to blog about this earlier, but you’ve already heard me whine enough for one week.  Abort 73 has got a sale on, and you should grab your gear before they run out!  Not only do we luv our tees, but we rock those puppies.

And if you like making new friends, be sure to check them out on Facebook and My Space.

Brought to You By the BBC

I share a fascination with Miss Wisabus for our British cousins.  It’s not so much that I think anyone with a British accent has a higher IQ or can sell me toothpaste better than anyone else.  Nor is it a dreamy romantic notion of what life is like over there.  I just have this large, inexplicable soft spot of compassion for them.  The umbilical cord may have been severed in 1776, but the belly button and the DNA to care about what happens to them cannot be removed. Grannie Get Your Gun

News of the day from Pennsylvania.  I love it — “Smith ordered the boy to dial 911 and then gave him some advice.”  Yet another reason why the fight against dementia and Alzheimers is so important.  Kudos, Cool Hand Leda. (more…)

Why the Olympics are Grand (and Aren’t)

I’ve seen reactions here and there from people who wouldn’t watch the Olympics if you paid them.  And to a degree I can understand their chagrin.  When we are in the middle of political turmoil with another nation (who might even seem to be flaunting it by their participation), it can be an unpleasant reminder.  When NBC owns the show — liberals dancing around elephants in the room, reporters that ask idiotic questions for the 100 millionth time, commentators that have so much to say that no one wants to listen to — it can be a bummer.  When people get tired of the commercial aspect of it all or the trick fireworks and lip-synching…  I get it. Blogger Whines, Gets Back to Work

I absolutely hate it when I don’t have all the time I want to post.  Consider this my temper tantrum for being so short on time the last few days.  I don’t normally post on the weekends, but my life has been so consumed by an enormous personal project the last several days (which will invade again off and on over the next three weeks), I feel like all I’ve offered you is a few Random Quotes.  There is so much more I want to say…so I’m going to stop whining now and just get started saying it.

Thank goodness for Jedijson and C-Biz and Miss Wisabus!  :-)
